ARTICLESGet In The Car And Drive![]() Written by: Fred | July 2007 Last month, we suggested some tunes to load on to your MP3 player before jumping in the car for a summer drive. But where should we go? As you may have gathered from the article The Trials and Tribulations of Real Estate, Holly & I are working on a domestic relocation. We are still not sure where we are going. As a result, we have toured through neighbouring towns and others further out of the way. We have not yet found our next homestead, but we have discovered some great places that we would never have otherwise found. Within ten minutes of our driveway, we found some of the most beautiful vistas, some really great old towns that seem to have stood still since the turn of the last century, and some fantastic streets with unbelievable homes. It just goes to show that sometimes you don’t have to go far to really get away. I never would have known that there is a wonderful little lake only a few minutes east of my home where some people have their summer cottage. I also might never have found out about the lovely natural spring by the side of a ski hill that many use to fill their water jugs instead of purchasing bottled water. It’s so funny that only after we have decided to leave where we live, have we really recognized the full beauty of the area. In the past, I might have thought that I needed to go to another province or another country to experience a change of scenery. Now I know that the landscape is completely different as soon as I travel 20 minutes away. I also now know that the same will be true wherever we end up. A change of environment is good to clear the head, get new ideas or just change your mood, but the change can be much closer than you think. So although the task of finding a place to live goes on, we have enjoyed discovering our own backyard. So, we would like to suggest that you make your next road trip a local one. And when you return, e-mail me at Fred@ShopAware.com and tell me what new discoveries you have made in your backyard. |
